Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga Massage (or Thai Massage for short) is a therapeutic modality with roots in ayurvedic medicine. The healing practice of Thai Massage has been around for over 2500 years.
Thai massage can help to reduce chronic pain, speed recovery from injury and exercise, lower anxiety, improve circulation and flexibility, and reduce stress by calming the body and mind, while tuning into the body's natural restorative process.
Thai Massage utilizes a blend of techniques including pressure point, gentle traction and rocking motions, reflexology, myofascial release, conventional massage, and yoga. In the case of the latter, the therapist artfully moves the receiver into various yoga postures, during which time the receiver is mostly passive. For this reason, Thai Yoga Massage has sometimes been referred to as Lazy Person’s Yoga.
Each therapy session is customized to the needs of the client. The experience of receiving a Thai Massage is both deeply relaxing and energizing. Sessions are performed in a quiet setting, usually on a large mat on the floor. The body is supported throughout with bolsters and pillows, and the client is fully dressed in loose, comfortable clothing or wearing attire suitable for exercise or yoga practice. No oils or lotions are used. No knowledge of yoga or Thai massage is required to experience the full therapeutic benefits of this ancient, healing practice.
